RiRi received a special invitation for two to dine at Union Square Tokyo and decided to take me with there for lunch yesterday-YAY time for a fabulous girls lunch!!
Union Sqaure Tokyo is in Midtown (六本木 Roppongi) and is modeled after Union Square Cafe in New York. We arrived and our coats were taken (yesterday was freezing!) and we were escorted to our seats.
We sat in a cozy little nook which had a view of the beautiful cherry blossoms. As we sat down, a small menu card was placed on both of our plates. We were to have the Special Lunch Menu.
We started the meal off with a champagne toast! Who loves Veuve Clicquot?
On to appetizers: Tuna Tartare with Horseradish Mustard Dressing, Sweet Onion, Tomato and Avocado Salad. This was divine especially eating it with the alpha sprouts and the dressing that included lobster.
The texture was soft, yet crunchy. I loved it.
RiRi doesn’t eat raw fish, so instead she had Wild Field Green Salad with Mozzarella di Buffala, Tomato, Strawberry & Balsamico Vinaigrette. It looked delish.
We had the green pea soup. It was served with edible flowers and a dab of heavy cream on the top. It tasted sweet, yet satisfying.
1. They covered RiRi’s soup as she was in the restroom while they brought it out. 2. There was also whole green peas in the soup.
Next we had Lobster Risotto with Petit Vert, Cilantro and Jalapeno. This was absolutely delicious with the large chunks of lobster and creamy sauce.
The main dish: Grilled Matsuzaka Pork with Spring Vegetable “Scaffata” & “Fuki no Toh” Miso Sauce
It was grilled to perfection. The miso sauce was light and complimented the tender meat.
We ended the meal with the Dessert Sampler: Lychee Sorbet, Pecan Cheesecake, and Mango Panna Cotta. The lychee sorbet was so refreshing and light. The pecan cheesecake was good but tasted a bit dry, it wasn’t like a traditional NY style cheesecake. I love pudding style desserts, so the mango panna cotta hit the spot!
I drank my hot tea with milk and we relaxed, talked and digested this great meal.
This meal was so satifying. We had great food with excellent service with even better company! Since we were already in Midtown, we strolled around Sakura Avenue to look at the cherry blossoms. They were still blooming and gorgeous. Had such a fun girls lunch!! Where do you and your friends like to dine?
