Most people dread Mondays. But if you knew yummy burritos, movies and sticky sweet cinnamon rolls were awaiting you, you would love Mondays too! Yesterday, was April Fool’s day, which meant it was the first of the first of the month, and the movies are cheap on that day. So me Papillon and Yayoi decided to take advantage of this, and headed to Roppongi Hills (六本木ヒルズ).
We met for an early lunch, beating the crowds to Frijoles Burritos & Tacos (フリホーレス). Frijoles makes fresh Mexican food fast, never fast food. Most of the ingredients are fresh and prepared from scratch. 1. The restaurant is cafeteria style, moving along a counter. 2. First you choose wether you would like a burrito, fajita, tacos, or salad. Then you choose the meat; chicken, steak, carnitas (pork) or vegetarian.
Next, you choose if you want cilantro lime rice, pinto beans, and black beans. 1. Then comes the sauces; fresh tomato salsa, roasted chile-corn salsa, green-chile tamatillo salsa, red arbol chile salsa, and sour cream. 2. And finally the last toppings; lettuce, guacamole, and cheese.
Then they neatly fold and wrap your burrito/fajita. I like to toast mine, so they warmed it up one last time and then its done!! I couldn’t resist ordering chips and salsa.
Inside my super yummy burrito, filled with carnitas, cilantro lime rice, black beans, fresh tomato salsa, sour cream, lettuce and a whole lot of cheese!!
After filling up our tummies, we headed over to Toho Cinemas (Toho シネマズ 六本木 ヒルズ). As we were leaving a large group of people began to line up for their Mexican fix! 1. The outside of the Toho Cinemas was decorated in Takashi Murakami’s art work, as his film will come out later this month. 2. We bought our tickets and were ready to watch Anna Karenina (movies are released late in Japan).
The movie was good, it made we want to read the book. Yayoi and Papillon were raving about how cute Aaron Taylor-Johnson–I had never heard of him before this movie. Anyways after our stomachs settled, we decided it was time to fill our cravings for something sweet. Lucky for us, just around the corner was Cinnabon (シナボン).
Cinnabon just opened last November and had huge lines out the door. Even now, 5 months later, there is a limited amount of cinnamon rolls that can be purchased per person. Cinnabon and Seattle’s Best Coffee are located in the same shop, so you can get hot cinnamon rolls and great coffee!
It was time for that ooey-gooey, melt in your mouth cinnamon deliciousness!! Heaven on a little plate, topped with rich cream cheese frosting–yes please!
Yesterday was super fun! I love hanging out on weekdays, since its never really busy anywhere. Mondays are the new Sundays in my book-hahahha! So what was the last movie you watched?
