Ree-O took Boo-chan and I to this Italian restaurant, La Cocorico (ラ・ココリコ), which serves delicious pasta, pizza and yummy rotisserie chicken! She made the mistake of telling me that they have a fab chocolate souffle, but unfortunately it’s not on their lunch menu–BOOO. Will come back for it someday.
La Cocorico is on the south side of Shibuya Station (渋谷駅, 南口). We hardly come on this side, so I was happy to find a new restaurant here. 1. The restaruant was on the 5F so after riding in the elevator, the doors open and we are greeted with the a small area that sells Italian products. 2. The restaurant is cozy with sofa seating and rustic dining tables and decor.
All lunch menus come with an appetizer and salad plate, main dish, dessert and your choice of drink. The main dishes consist of rotisserie chicken, pizza, pasta and seafood plates.
The appetizer and salad plate (前菜３類とサラダ盛り).
As Ree-O said the pizza was great, we decided to order a lunch sized pizza to split between us. It was the special for the day- fried eggplant and meat sauce (揚げ茄子ミートソース). The crust was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I love fried eggplants so this was def a winner in my book!
I had the homemade tagliatelle pasta. It was served with a cream sauce and spring beans-fava beans, green beans, peas and Morrocan green beans (手打 春豆のクリームソース タリアテッレ). It was simple and creamy and VERY tasty!
Boo-chan and Ree-O had the rotisserie chicken plate (ロティサリーチキンプレート), which was served with butter rice and dipping spices. The chicken was succulent and juicy (I had part of the leg)!
The meal ended with this small cake, which reminded me of castella cake that was dry. It had chopped nuts on top with powdered sugar. It left my mouth feeling dry and thirsty, I wish I could have ordered the chocolate souffle.
The overall food and service was great, but the dessert ended the meal with a dud, so we had make up for it and headed to Harbs (ハーブズ) in Hikarie.
I love Harbs. When we arrived there was a long line, which was moving quite fast. So we lined up, and I went to look at the desserts they sell in front of the cafe, to see which one I wanted. They had about 13 different kinds.
After about 15 minutes, we were shown to our seats. We all ordered tea and cake. 1. I had the coconut tea, and Boo-chan and Ree-O had Earl Grey. The coconut tea has a strong sweet smell. You can drink it straight or with milk. I usually have one cup straight and one with milk. I recommend this tea!
Ree-O had the Marron Tart (マロン タルト). It was filled with whipped cream and chocolate chips and covered with a sweet marron paste. As it was wrapped in foil, I couldn’t snap a good pic without the foil–sorry.
Since it is strawberry season, Boo-chan decided he would order something with strawberries. So he had the most popular dessert, Strawberry Cake (ストロベリーケーキ). It was a 3-tiered fluffy sponge cake topped with red ripe strawberries.
I ordered the Banana Cream Pie (バナナ クリーム パイ). The white sesame mousse topped with chocolate sauce, over whole bananas and homemade custard cream! This was fabulous! If you like bananas, you need to try this one!
After eating all this great food, we decided we needed to walk it off. Time to shop around. We walked around Shibuya, Aoyama, Omotesando, and Harajuku. Hopefully I could walk off my cake–wishful thinking. hahaha. What yummy sweet things have you eaten recently?
