**UPDATE** The store has closed on December 27, 2013.
Yesterday was the first day of Golden Week for Boo-chan so we decided to eat at Epinaud Cuisine Francaise (エピノウ) in the hood (代々木八幡 Yoyogi-Hachiman). Epinaud is a casual French restaurant that’s delicious and definitely one of my fav lunch spots.
1. The restaurant is easy to spot with its large French flag hanging on the wall. 2. The weekly galette, quiche, salad, meat and fish lunch specials are written on a board sitting outside of the restaurant.
1. The walls are painted a light blue shade with white crown moulding. There are pictures hung on the wall. It’s very cute and cozy. 2. The kitchen is open.
Boo-chan and I sat in the back. We were trying to decide what to order. Each lunch set comes with bread, a main dish, a petite dessert and boisson (drink). You can choose from a galette, quiche, salade, or plats du jour (meat or fish plate of the day). For an extra ¥500 you can change your petite dessert to a crepe (crepe set).
Boo-chan and I ordered crepe sets. He was having the Plats du Jour (本日のお肉料理), and I was having the Poisson du Jour (本日の魚料理). The waiter quickly brought out freshly baked warm homemade bread with small pats of butter. The focaccia bread was light and fluffy and tasted of rosemary. The roll was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I love warm bread.
Boo-chan plate of the day–duck confit (鴨もも肉のコンフィ). This was very tasty. I have tried this at many restaurants, and I dislike when it’s too salty, but this one was seasoned just right!
I had the fish plate of the day–salmon poiret with tomato sauce (サーモンのポワレ トマトソース). This was fantastic. I love all the veggies and the salmon was pan seared and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The tomato sauce perfectly matched the salmon!
To end the meal, it was crepe time. We had our choice from butter sugar, salted caramel, cinnamon, honey, apricot jam or blueberry jam. Boo-chan ordered the butter sugar. It was very simple and plain yet satisfying! But Boo-chan said his likes his crepes sweeter with chocolate, like the ones you can buy in Harajuku (原宿).
I had the salted caramel crepe. This was great! The caramel was salty yet sweet. I thought that it would be a tad bit bitter but thankfully it wasn’t. I enjoyed eating my crepe, it reminded me of being in Paris.
We ended the meal with two cafe au laits (カフェオレ) . We relaxed and talked and waited for our stomaches to settle. I love coming here for lunch, for the price and the quality of food its really cheap! I’m glad I also finally got to try the crepes. I had wanted to for sometime but never ordered it. When was the last time you ate french?
