Boo-chan and I just got back from Guam yesterday. It had been 10 years since I last visited and for Boo-chan it was 20 years! We both felt it changed a lot. Guam is an island south of Japan that lies in the Pacific Ocean. It an unicorporated territory of America.
We took a chartered flight out of Tokyo Narita International Airport. It took approximately 3.5 hours to get there, and there is a 1 hour time difference in Guam (GMT +10hrs). The weather is tropical, and temperatures usually range in the low to high 80s in May. The view from our hotel–Hilton Guam Resort & Spa.
The weather was unstable, and sometimes there were many squalls, but even in cloudy weather it’s still so beautiful! The whole trip it was cloudy and sunny, on and off–but we didn’t mind. I loved this infinity pool, you can look out and see panaramic views of Tumon Bay.
The private beach had white sand and was beautiful. You can relax pool side or beach side, we did both. Boo-chan and I went snorkeling around the reef areas and saw so many fish, both big and small. I was surprised to see so many fish, until I realized that some tourist was feeding the fish bread, no wondering they came flocking over.
There were 5 pools, a water slide and jacuzzi at the hotel. I couldn’t leave without going on the water slide! 1. Boo-chan tried to snap a pic, but couldn’t get the timing right, hahaha. But that’s me…. 2. and Boo-chan! I felt like a little kid again!
During our stay we took walks, went shopping, had to visit the 24hr K-mart, ate yummy food and just relaxed by the pool and beach. One thing I liked about Guam is there is NO sales tax—yup, everything is duty free! I do love Hawaii but for short trips, Guam is perfect!! It’s a beach resort, its closer to Japan and there is no jet lag involved. The people are extremely nice here and they have almost everything you need. Including my fix of American junk food! This was a much need vacay! So, where do you like to go on mini-vacays?
