Yesterday Mr T and I met up in Shibuya after I hit the gym. We walked around trying to figure out where we wanted to eat. We wanted to try something new, but didn’t want to eat something too heavy. I remembered RiRi mentioned she tried this new place called Cafe Manduka (カフェ マンドゥーカ), so we decided to give it a shot.
Before entering the cafe, I thought it had some sort of Indian influence judging by the name, but to my surprise it didn’t. 1. The cafe itself was very big. We sat at a table in the front, which was in a raised area. The cafe also had tables on the first floor and a large garden terrace in the back. 2. The cafe was pretty crowded, but we were thankfully seated immediately.
The lunch menu was simple and it changes weekly. There were four basic main dishes to choose from, obon (お盆), cold noodles lunch or reimen (冷麺), omelet rice lunch (オムライス), and plate lunch (プレート). The cafe prides itself on it nutritious food that is good for both beauty and health.
Mr T ordered the Obon Lunch Set–which was a homemade hamburg steak with grated daikon and veggies. The set also came with soup, salad, rice and a drink. Mr T ordered an orange juice.
Here’s a closer look at the hamburg steak. Looks delish, right?
My omelet was topped with bacon and tomato in a sugo all’amatriciana sauce. It was tasty. Inside of the omelette is rice. Here’s a picture. The rice is flavored ketchup and other ingredients and the eggs were light and fluffy. It was good!
1. Although we were so full we decided to split a dessert–pancakes! The fluffy pancakes were stacked on top of each other with whipped cream in between. They were topped with a berry sauce and fresh berries. 2. Mr T. holding our dessert!
